Has any city ever been more of a fount of music than Vienna? Over the past 300 years, Vienna emerged as the wellspring for sparkling Classicism, swirling Romantic waltzes, and even daring new currents of pitch systems. From Sept. 17-20, Lions Gate Trio is joined in four concerts by 100 Hartt School faculty/ students/ alumni and guest artists in a celebration of Viennese chamber and vocal music. Works by Beethoven, Berg, Brahms, Eisler, Haydn, Mahler, Mozart, Schoenberg, Strauss, Webern, Wolf—even a leading voice of today, York Höller, whose music was inspired by Schubert.
